MEET MILLICENT
"I'm a mom, I'm a business owner, and I'm running for Delegate!"
Millicent was born at FMH and grew up in a Military family. She has lived all across the country, from Arizona, to Hawaii, and many more, before settling back down in Frederick County in 2011. In 2010 Millicent earned her BS in Public Administration. Millicent is married to her husband of 21 years, Doug, and they have two children; Miranda age 15, and Emily age 11. Millicent's family is her whole world, and she first got involved with politics to create a better world for them.
Since arriving back in Frederick County Millicent has served as the Vice President of The Women's Democratic League of Frederick County, a board member of The United Democrats of Frederick County, and an appointed member of The Frederick County Democratic Central Committee. She also worked as a Legislative Assistant for State Senator Ron Young and Delegate Lewis Young during the 2016 legislative session. In 2017-18 Millicent was campaign manager for Andrew Duck's Congressional campaign.
In August of 2018 Millicent experienced her first of four hospitalizations from a condition which left her in mostly bed bound for a year. It took that year, and multiple doctors, to finally get a diagnosis; Dysautomonia/POTS. This is a condition where your heart beats too fast when you stand. Millicent spent about a year and half in a wheelchair, but with physical therapy and true determination she regained her ability to walk independently. This experience also lead to a passion for healthcare reform and access.
In 2021 as COVID appeared to be slowing down, Millicent opened a business in Frederick called Saga Games LLC. Millicent and her husband Doug run Saga Games during the day and spend most evenings with their children. Millicent has strived to make Saga Games an inclusive game store where community can gather.
